1. Brief Introduction

Physical Education Major (Normal Category, undergraduate, four years Educational category)

Cultivation Objectives: cultivating versatile physical education major talents who can meet the needs of China's socialist modernization, well developed of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and labor qualities and have solid ability of learning, creativity, practical skills, communication skills, social adaptability and entrepreneurship, and are capable of secondary school physical education, teaching, training and competition, and of doing school physical science research, sports management, and social sports guidance.

Major Curriculum : Physical education in school, Sport Physiology£¬Sports Anatomy,  Sports Health Care and Education, Theory of PE Teaching, PE Research Methodology, Speed ​​Skating, Track and Field, Gymnastics, Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Theory and Methods for PE Specialty Course, Education, Computer Science , Foreign Languages as ​​compulsory courses, and Competition Rules & Guide for Referees, Contest Appreciation and other elective courses.

Employment Orientation: students from this major can be competent in secondary school physical education, teaching, training and competition work. And can be versatile sports talents who is capable of school sports scientific research, sports management and guiding social sports activities.

(II) Major for Master's Degree and Directions

Physical Education and Training Major

1.    Brief Introduction

Cultivation Directions: According to the requirements of the New National Admissions Directory, Physical Education and Training Major recruits and cultivates postgraduate students in the following major directions, namely basketball, track and field, winter sports( with speed skating as the major program), gymnastics, martial art and theory of sports training.

Cultivation Objectives: This major cultivate professional talents who love the socialist motherland, support the Communist Party's leadership, have a solid theoretical basis of physical education, and understand the development trend of physical education and training at home and abroad, and equipped with the knowledge of the related disciplines, and are able to undertake scientific research, sports teaching, training, management and so on.

Credits Required: 360 credit hours ( 6 credits) for public courses, 168 credit hours( 10 credits) for basic specialized courses, 168 credit hours( 12 credits) for specialized courses and 64 credit hours( 4 credits) for elective courses. Degree course will be assessed in the form of test. In order to get the credits, the test score must be over 75, while the assessment of other courses will be a combination of tests, experiment reports, social survey, reading reports, etc. with the tests as its major form.

3. Instructors

(1)Wang Shaofeng was born in Du'erbote County, Heilongjiang Province in March 1963. He graduated from Department of Physical Education of Harbin Normal University in 1986 with a Bachelor¡¯s degree in Education. In June, 2000, he received his Master degree from the Major of Education Economics and Management in the Department of Education of Harbin Normal University. And in July, 2009 he earned his Doctoral Degree from Major of Physical Education and Teaching Methodology in Nanjing Normal University. Wang Shaofeng is currently the Dean of the Physical Science College, professor and master's instructor in the Physical Science College, person in charge of Provincial Quality Course Gymnastics, and Distinguished Professor of Harbin Normal University. His Major Research Interests are Gymnastics teaching and training, physical education and teaching methodology. He had altogether published 5 academic works, 2 of them are monographs, and 8 thesis in core Sports journals such as "Journal of Physical Education," ¡°JOURNAL OF SPORTS AND SCIENCE ", "Sports Culture Guide", etc, presiding over 6 national and provincial/ministry-level research projects and 20 Bureau-level research projects. Among his many social affiliations, he is the Secretary-General of the Jiangbei Branch of the Heilongjiang College Sports Research Institute, director of Heilongjiang Institute of Physical Science, college professional title evaluation expert in Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, and vice chairman of Harbin Roller Skating Association.

£¨2£©Professor Tao Cheng was born in April, 1954 and graduated from Department of Physical Education of Harbin Normal University in 1982 with a Bachelor¡¯s degree in Education. In 1989 he received Master of Physical Education degree in the Graduate School of Chukyo University, Japan. And in 2007 he earned his Doctor of Education degree in the Graduate School of Beijing Sports University.  His Major Research Interests are Learning and Control of Sports Skill, physical education and training and psychological counseling to athletes.

Currently Tao Cheng is responsible for a series of courses, namely Theory of PE Teaching, Theory of Sports Techniques, Sport Psychology, Theory and Methods for PE Specialty Course and skiing, and is also the Graduate Student Instructor for Physical Education and Training (basketball, sports training) and Theory of PE Teaching. In recent years he published a total of 21 papers and 10 academic works, undertook nine research projects, and is the winner of 4 awards above provincial level.

(3)  Professor Li Wei , Track and Field National referee , was born in October, 1955. Graduated from Department of Physical Education of Harbin Normal University in 1977, he now focuses on the research of Track and Field Teaching and Training and Internet Physical Fitness Consulting and Service.

Currently Li Wei is responsible for the provincial quality course ¡°Training and Teaching Methodology of Track and Field¡± and courses such as Theory and Methods for PE Specialty Course, Sports Training, Track and Field Appreciation, Track and Field Rules & Guide for Referees, After-school Training, and is also the Graduate Student Instructor for Physical Education and Training (track and field, sports training). In recent years he published a total of 23 papers and 5 academic works, undertook 5 research projects, and is the winner of 3 awards above provincial level.

(4) Professor Nan Xianghua , National referee for speedskationg , was born in February, 1957 and graduated from Department of Physical Education of Harbin Normal University in 1982 with a Bachelor¡¯s degree in Education. His major research interest is Speed Skating Teaching and Training.

Currently Nan Xianghua is responsible for Speed ​​skating training and teaching methods, Theory and Methods for PE Specialty Course, etc, and is also the Graduate Student Instructor for Physical Education and Training (speed skating). In recent years he published a total of 17 papers and 8 academic works, undertook 2 research projects, and is the winner of one award above provincial level.

Traditional and Ethnic Sports Major

1.    Brief Introduction

Cultivation Directions: According to the requirements of the New National Admissions Directory, Traditional and Ethnic Sports Major recruits and cultivates postgraduate students in the following 5 major directions: Theories and methodology of traditional ethnic sports, Theories and methodology of folk sports, Theories and methodology of traditional regimen, Theories and methodology of martial arts pattern, and Theories and methodology of martial arts and Sanda.

Cultivation Objectives: This major cultivate professional talents who love the socialist motherland, support the Communist Party's leadership, have a solid theoretical basis and mastery of traditional and ethnic sports, understand the development trend of traditional and ethnic sports., and equipped with the knowledge of the related disciplines, and are able to undertake scientific research, sports teaching, training, management and so on

Studying Period: 2-4 years

Associate Professor Guo Xumao was born in February, 1958 and graduated from Department of Physical Education of Harbin Normal University in 1982 with a Bachelor¡¯s degree in Education. His Major Research Interests are Martial arts teaching and training, Traditional and Ethnic Sports Culture.

 Currently Guo Xumao is responsible for a series of courses, namely, Teaching and Training Methodology of Martial Arts, Theory and Practice of Martial Arts, General Introduction of Traditional and Ethnic Sports, and Practice of Martial Skills, and is also the Graduate Student Instructor for the Traditional and Ethnic Sports Major. In recent years he published a total of 15 papers and 4 academic works, undertook 6 research projects, and is the winner of one award above provincial level.
